Walz Visits Tech Startup BrandHoot in Rochester, Talks STEM Education and Workforce Development
Rochester, MN [7/17/15] – Today, Congressman Tim Walz visited local tech startup BrandHoot in Rochester and discussed ways to increase entrepreneurship opportunities and grow Rochester’s middle class economy through workforce development and STEM education.
“When we talk about workforce development, we’re not just talking about shop class; we’re talking about STEM education. Every child should have the opportunity to learn computer engineering and how to code,” Congressman Walz said. “I thank BrandHoot for having me here today to discuss their ideas for the future of our community and state. It’s millennial entrepreneurs and businesses like these that will help push our economy forward.”
“We’re happy to have Congressman Walz visit today and talk with us about our efforts to build not only our business, but to look at the big picture: supporting a broad, diverse, and vibrant workforce in Rochester,” said Nate Nordstrom who is the founder of BrandHoot. “I applaud his efforts to hear directly from businesses about our needs, including workforce development and STEM education, in order to train and retain a highly skilled workforce."
