Walz Statement on Veterans Day
MANKATO, MN – Today, U.S. Representative Tim Walz (MN-01), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement commemorating Veterans Day, which is officially November 11 and observed this year on November 10:
“All we have as a People, we owe to those who have borne the battle. On Veterans Day, we join together to honor the service of our veterans and extend our gratitude to them and their families for the sacrifices they have made for our country.
“Veterans Day also reminds us that many of our nation’s heroes continue to sacrifice long after their military service has concluded. Thus, as we commemorate those who have served in uniform, we also rededicate ourselves to providing them with the timely, high-quality care and support they deserve. Our veterans put their lives on the line for our freedom, and we owe them nothing less than to deliver for them when they are in need.
“To all who have fought and continue to fight to preserve, protect and defend our Constitution and the rights and freedoms it guarantees to us all, we thank you.”
Walz, a veteran who served over 24 years in the Army National Guard, is the highest ranking enlisted soldier ever to serve in Congress.
