Walz Holds Roundtable on Veterans’ Affairs in Luverne
LUVERNE, MN – Today, U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Tim Walz (MN-01) held his second Veterans Roundtable in under two weeks with local veterans’ advocates in Minnesota’s First Congressional District to discuss priorities for the 115th Congress, and the future of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
“I’d like to say thank you to all those who joined together at the Roundtable in Luverne today,” said Representative Walz. “Their personal experiences and perspectives will be invaluable as we continue to move forward with determining how to best reform the VA. Our nation’s heroes are counting on us, and I am eager to continue working with veterans’ advocates in the First District and across the nation to ensure that we don’t let our heroes down.”
Rep. Walz remains dedicated to bringing the voices of southern Minnesotans back to Washington. Among the priorities identified by Walz and Roundtable attendees today were:
- Improving the Veterans Choice Program
- Lifting the burdens from veterans to accessing care
- Growing mental health services at the VA
- Promoting the seamless transition from the Department of Defense (DoD) to the VA
On January 11, Rep. Walz was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Ranking Member on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in the 115th Congress. Having served on the Committee since first coming to Congress in 2007, he has made honoring our commitments to those who have served this nation in uniform his top priority. Walz is the highest-ranking enlisted soldier to serve in Congress.
