Walz Celebrates Highway 14 Expansion, Says Still More Work to Do

New four-lane expansion of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna to open in coming weeks

Owatonna, MN – Today, Congressman Tim Walz and a bipartisan coalition of state and local leaders celebrated the new four-lane expansion of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna at a ribbon cutting ceremony in Owatonna. The four-lane expansion will be complete and opened for travel in the coming weeks. Walz released the following statement:

“Today you see what is possible when we set partisanship aside and work together to get things done. This four-lane expansion of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna represents years of relentless and diligent work from members of this community. It also underscores the importance of investments in infrastructure, which work to make our roads safer and more efficient while creating jobs and growing our local economy at the same time.

“So today, while we celebrate this momentous achievement, we know our work does not end here. Folks who drive to work at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester or businesses that ship their products east know there’s another stretch of this highway that must be expanded. As Governor Dayton has said, we want to see Highway 14 four-lanes, border to border. I am committed to building the strong coalition required to get this done and will continue to be one of this project’s strongest advocates.”
