Walz Holds Roundtable on Veterans’ Affairs
MANKATO, MN – Today, U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Tim Walz (MN-01) held a Veterans Advisory Group Roundtable with local veterans advocates to discuss priorities for the 115th Congress, and the future of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
“I thank those in attendance today for bringing their constructive and insightful ideas to the table, and for their dedicated advocacy on behalf of our veterans,” said Representative Walz. “The priorities we identified today will help guide my actions as Ranking Member on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and I look forward to continuing this ongoing discussion with southern Minnesotans as to how we can best serve our nation’s heroes.”
Rep. Walz is dedicated to bringing the voices of his constituents back to Washington. Among the priorities identified by Walz and Roundtable attendees today were:
· improving access to care in the VA
· reforming the appeals process
· improving mental health access and care
On January 11, Rep. Walz was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Ranking Member on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in the 115th Congress. Having served on the Committee since first coming to Congress in 2007, he has made honoring our commitments to those who have served this nation in uniform his top priority. Walz is the highest-ranking enlisted soldier to serve in Congress.
