WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Congressman Walz announced $2,831,919 dollars in federal Department of Transportation grant money for the Worthington Municipal Airport in Worthington, MN. The funds will be used to rehabilitate various runways.
“I am a strong supporter of creating a 21st century transportation system that efficiently moves people and goods not only to urban communities, but to the rural communities that make Minnesota what it is,” said Walz. “These new projects are great news for Worthington. Regional airports in southern Minnesota are a critical economic development tool and these projects will expand jobs and future economic opportunity in the area.”
"This grant will be great for Worthington,” said Mayor Alan Oberloh. “This project is not only needed for our city, but will put local contractors to work."
Worthington Municipal airport will use the funding to rehabilitate Runway -11/29 and Runway -17/35.
