WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Congressman Walz announced nearly three quarters of a million dollars in grant money for regional airports. Quentin Aanenson Field in Luverne, Minnesota, Windom Municipal Field in Windom, Minnesota, and Blue Earth Municipal Field in Blue Earth, Minnesota will all receive funding. The funds will be used to rehabilitate and extend the airports’ taxiways and runways.
“I am a strong supporter of creating a 21st century transportation system that efficiently moves people and goods not just to urban communities, but to the rural communities that make Minnesota what it is. These projects are great news for Windom, Luverne and Blue Earth,” said Walz. “Regional airports in southern Minnesota are a critical economic development tool and these projects will expand jobs and future economic opportunity. This investment will fund the extension of the Blue Earth runway, and will rehabilitate taxiways in both Luverne and Windom .”
Luverne will receive a grant of $85,000. Windom will receive a grant of $311,006 and Blue Earth will receive $332,500 in funding from the US Department of Transportation.
