Mankato, MN – Today, Congressman Tim Walz applauded President Obama’s appointment of Scott Winslow and Richard Peterson to serve as state committee members at the Farm Services Agency (FSA) in Minnesota. The FSA administers agriculture programs and promotes a market-oriented, economically and environmentally sound approach to American agriculture to deliver an abundant, safe, and affordable food supply while sustaining quality agricultural communities.
“In these trying economic times, we need folks who can champion successful agriculture initiatives that give our farmers stability, create jobs and build a stronger economy,” said Walz. “Both Mr. Winslow and Mr. Peterson will have a key role in helping to ensure that Minnesota FSA is able to meet the needs of our farmers and rural communities. I appreciate Senator Klobuchar’s nomination of Mr. Winslow and Mr. Peterson and applaud their appointment by President Obama.”
Scott Winslow of Fountain, Minn. Winslow is currently in his eleventh year as chairman of the Fillmore County Farm Bureau. He and his wife operate a family farm in the southeast part of the state.
Richard Peterson of Mountain Lake, Minn. Peterson is a lifelong farmer from southwest part of the state. He has been active in many commodity organizations including the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council and state FFA Foundation.
